This is one of the most asked questions at ARA. Do you need a keyless entry, alarm, remote start, or a combination? Let me explain the differences between these systems. - Keyless Entry. A system that will let you gain access to your vehicle without actually using your key. It uses a key-fob or remote. Most keyless entry systems incorporate flashing lights to signify unlock or lock.
- Alarm System. A system that will protect your vehicle from being stolen or broken into. A majority of systems incorporate pin switches, sirens, and flashing lights to notify you of a disturbance. Some systems will also have a shock/impact detector that will set off the alarm if the vehicle is hit.
- Remote Start System. A system that will remotely start your vehicle from a distance. This is perfect for cooling down or warming up your vehicle during the inclement seasons. (Excluding Manual Transmissions)
- 2-Way vs. 1-Way. Most systems out there are considered 1-way systems. This means they will only accept commands. In recent years consumers have wanted confirmation that the system is working. This is where the 2-way system comes into play. It will take commands and resend a confirmation of it. i.e. Pressing the arm button will activate the alarm, within seconds the remote will beep to confirm the command. Hence the term 2-way. The 2-way works for all notifications from the system including arm, disarm, tampering, remote start, etc…
Now that we have the basics down, we can discuss combinations. Any vehicle can have these systems installed (for the most part). Most of our customers prefer to have some form of combination. You can combine all four systems or mix and match. What ever you prefer here at ARA we can provide it. We offer the best of the best Viper. These state-of-the-art systems combine security with remote start and keyless entry to give you peace of mind, knowing your vehicle and its contents are protected from thieves and vandals – as well as the elements! Just a few other things to consider: Do you have factory power doorslocks? If not, we can still give you keyless entry by adding the lock motor to any vehicle. Do you have factory power windows? If not, we can add that as well. If you have power windows, we can add modules to roll-up or down them via your security system. Do you have a convertible? We have sensors that will protect your interior if the top is down, by creating an invisible field. If the field is broken the alarm will sound. |
